Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (Estd 1921) was upgraded to Harcourt Butler Technological University in 2016 by U.P.Government, to become a centre of excellence with focus on “Research, Development and Incubation” In the fields of Engineering, Technology, Basic & Applied Sciences, Humanities, Social Science and Management, Architecture and other professional courses. H.B.T.U. aims to promote studies, research and innovation in engineering areas of higher education to enhance skill development through continuing education programme and knowledge to achieve excellence in higher echelon of technical education.
University comprises of four schools with thirteen undergraduate programs in Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, IT, Leather, Mechanical, Biochemical & Food, Oils, Paints, Plastics streams of engineering and technology along with post graduate programs of MCA, M.Tech. and Ph.D. in various disciplines.

About Alumni Association
Alumni Association was founded in year 2005 when the old students of HBTI Kanpur decided to for it. It is registered body under Societies Registration Act with the Registrar of Society and has approval from the Board of Governors HBTI Kanpur which gave it the status of Alumni Association, HBTI Kanpur. The activities of the Alumni Association grew with time in HBTI. Today the Alumni Association has its chapters located at Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Faridabad and Bangalore. Many more chapters are in the pipeline.
The Association has been regularly organizing get together where Alumni get the opportunity to share their experiences and thoughts. Since, the setting up of Alumni Association HBTI Kanpur, the International Alumni Meet is organized in the last weekend of November every year. In continuation to the past Alumni Meets, the 17th International Alumni Meet of Harcourtians shall be organized on 25-27th of November 2021. The Alumni Association has its full time functional office in the Main building at the University campus. A Rajiv Aga memorial Conference room with audio visual facilities, Alumni Lounge, Student Resource Centre with reprographic facility centre has been established at the office of the Alumni Association where several utility services including B/W &multi colour photo copy, laser type setting and binding are made available to the students. Setting up of projection systems in class rooms of Mechanical Engg. Dept.
Constructions of utilities block consisting of toilets (04 units), gents toilets (02) & urinals (04 units), Flooring of cafeteria building with Vitrified tiles including wall skirting, revamping of the entire building including outer walls, Plastering & Painting with weather proof emulsion coating, Air-conditioning at cafeteria, complete with electrical fittings, fixtures and accessories along with requisite furniture has been provided by Alumni Association to the almamater in the past.
About International Alumni Meet 2021
The International Alumni Meet 2021 is scheduled to be held on 25th-29th November, 2021 in the University and is likely to get large participation of Alumni from India and abroad.
Alumni Association has instituted a Distinguished Alumni Award for which nominations are invited by 13th October, 2021. The details of award and procedure of nomination would be available on the Alumni Website www.alumnihbti.com.
